The purchase of AI Music, a London-based business founded in 2016, was completed in recent weeks. The idea of the startup is to generate dynamic music and soundtracks that change based on user interaction. A song in a video game could change to fit the mood, for instance, music during a workout could adapt to the user’s intensity.

Why is this important?
Can you imagine an AI that can generate tailor-made music, soundtracks specifically designed for your needs? No more listening to the same ten songs on repeat because you can’t find anything that fits your mood. This AI would be able to create completely unique music and soundtracks based on your personal preferences and even take into account the current atmosphere or tone of your environment. This new technology will empower and augment many creative content producers. Think for example of YouTubers, Game developers, and video content creators. Just define the mood (or AI can do this based on some variables) and the soundtrack is created on the fly. As a content creator myself I can’t wait until Apple includes this AI-powered technology into its core audio and video products. Some applications that I would like to see are A real-time generated soundtrack for sporting or running exercises based on your heartbeat or steps, an automated soundtrack for edited video based on the video content, real-time generated ambiance sound to set a sound stage for any event, room or office.
