Amazon Testing Virtual Shoes Feature: Try-On Shoes With Augmented Reality

Amazon Testing Virtual Shoes Feature: Try-On Shoes With Augmented Reality

Go Digital

What happened? If you've ever wanted to try on shoes before buying them, Amazon has just made that possible - with a little help from augmented reality. The tech giant on Thursday launched a new try-on feature within its iOS app that uses augmented reality to show shoppers how shoes look on their feet. We just gave it a quick test run and it was pretty slick.

Stay Human

Why is this important for people what are the benefits? We can make a more informed decision with AR technologies like this because we will have access to details and the experience that may help us choose the right product. The fashion business might save money by allowing for a better match between buyers and sellers. This, too, may assist reduce the amount of waste generated by the fashion industry.

There’s a “Virtual Try-On” button below product images for shoes that have the functionality; brands such as New Balance, Adidas, Lacoste, and others are included at launch. So if you're ever unsure about whether a pair of shoes will fit or go well with your outfit, you can now find out without even having to leave your house.

The Future is (Almost) Here

What's next? It's not hard to see how Amazon's new feature could be a game-changer for both shoppers and retailers. For shoppers, it takes the guesswork out of online shopping - no more worrying about whether those shoes will actually look good on you. And for retailers, it could mean more sales and fewer returns. Of course, we'll have to wait and see how well the feature actually works in practice before we can say for sure. But it's definitely a step in the right direction.

If you're an Amazon customer with an iPhone, go ahead and give it a try! Augmented reality is still in its early stages, but it's getting more and more realistic all the time. Who knows - maybe one day we'll all be doing our shopping from the comfort of our homes without ever having to set foot in a store again.
